Andrei, a sole proprietor of his business, holds two BFA degrees, one from School of Visual Arts and one in Restoration Technology from Fashion Institute of Technology. He also holds an MA in Museum Studies from the Fashion Institute of Technology. His paintings restoration skills were further developed at the Institute for Art and Restoration ("Palazzo Spinelli") in Florence, Italy and through internship at the restoration studio of Luca Bonetti. He has experience working for other conservation and restoration firms, including Evergreene Painting Studios (New York City) and Sherman Art Conservation (Sea Cliff, NY). Andrei is a member in good standing of the American Institute for Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works and abides by its ethical and professional guidelines.
What the Painting Restoration Studio Does
Andrei’s studio performs restoration treatments on easel paintings and murals. Cleaning, repairing tears, lining, stretching, retouching and varnishing are all performed by himself or under his direct supervision. Before and after photos are taken to document the restoration treatments. The studio also prepares appraisals and damage/loss reports for insurance claims. The studio does not restore works on paper such as engravings and prints.
Andrei has experience testifying in court as an expert witness on art restoration.
What to Expect
Work brought into the studio is examined and a treatment proposal and cost estimate is given at no charge. On location inspections and proposals are prepared for a fee. A 50% down-payment may be required before work begins. Payments are only accepted by check or paypal.

The range of clients the studio works with is diverse; they are artists, art galleries, curators, private collectors, auction houses, interior designers, insurance companies and moving companies.
